ARX Modular Vehicle Barrier
The Modular Vehicle Barrier is a surface mounted crash rated vehicle barrier ideal for towns, cities, public works and police to use for street closures which protects crowds against vehicle attacks.
While most events utilize concrete blocks, patrol vehicles, dump trucks or wooden barricades to close down roads, the Modular Vehicle Barrier is designed to replace the use of these dangerous alternatives while being very cost effective.

Common Questions About Modular Vehicle Barriers
What size options are available for the Modular Vehicle Barrier?+
The Modular Vehicle Barrier is available in three sizes including 20’, 10’ and 5’ units. Multiple Modular Vehicle Barrier units can be linked by the standard extension bar, designed to add stability and impact resistance, or the optional pedestrian archway.
Each archway provides a 42” wide, 80” high opening for pedestrians to pass through without compromising the impact resistance of the modular vehicle barrier as a whole.

What is the crash rating of the Modular Vehicle Barrier?+
A single 20’ Modular Vehicle Barrier section is tested and certified to ASTM F2656 standards, achieving an impressive M30/P2 rating. This means each 20’ unit can withstand impact from a 15,000-pound vehicle traveling at speeds up to 30 mph and stopping it within 23 feet maximum penetration distance.
In addition, once sections of the barrier are assembled and in place, each can be pinned to the next with an extension bar, adding to the mass and impact resistance of the barrier.
While 5 foot Modular Vehicle Barrier units must be linked to another modular vehicle barrier unit for crash resistance, in-house testing of 5 foot units linked to a pedestrian archway unit stood up to a full-size Dodge Ram pickup traveling at 30 mph. 10 foot Modular Vehicle Barrier units were tested using a full-size sedan traveling at 30 mph, as well as a full-size pickup traveling at 30 mph with a 45 degree impact angle. Videos and results of this in-house testing are available.

How do you set up and move the Modular Vehicle Barrier?+
The Modular Vehicle Barrier utilizes a proprietary pallet jack which easily moves individual units into position within seconds. While a forklift can be used to lift or move the units into position, the pallet jack is the most efficient option.
Once the Modular Vehicle Barrier is in place for the road closure, there is nothing left to do. It does not require any anchoring or ballasting and is completely surface mounted.
The Modular Vehicle Barrier units can be spaced to allow pedestrian access without the archway option or used in conjunction with other vehicle barriers for emergency vehicle access.

How do you store and transport the Modular Vehicle Barrier?+
Since most special events utilize jersey barriers or concrete blocks for street closures, the transportation costs can add up for installation and removal after an event. Most flatbed trucks can fit 9-10 jersey barriers per truck which covers about 100 linear feet.
With the Modular Vehicle Barrier, you can fit up to 400 linear feet of barriers on one flatbed truck. The Modular Vehicle Barrier stores compactly and has a small footprint when stored together.
